Building a Block Wall
Building a Block Wall
Sometimes a need arises for a soil retention system that is as beautiful as it is functional. Nothing fills this need as well as a Decorative Concrete Block wall. These soil retention blocks consist of precast high strength concrete with a textured face. They come in a variety of colors, sizes and styles for just about any retention project you can imagine.
The small blocks are good for short walls 2’ or less in height. The larger blocks are used for the taller walls. Installation requires proper ground preparation and care must be taken to make sure the blocks don’t shift out of position over time.
With any block size one thing holds true. The most important blocks in the wall are the blocks in the bottom course. If the first course is wrong the wall will be uneven and unstable. All the blocks on the beginning row must sit flat and level. As the wall rises it is designed to step back slightly, This creates a wall that tapers back into the hill strengthening and adding depth to the wall face. The blocks are locked together with either concrete overhangs, fiberglass pins or steel tie backs. Walls over 6’ in height require a design plan from a structural engineer which is included in the price of the wall.
We can build just about any size block wall system and would be glad to create one for you. You can see more photos and find out more about concrete block walls and their applications by visiting this site. Welcome to Keystone Retaining Walls
